“I would like to create a fragrance inspired by my dreams”. Discover our interview with Amélie Bourgeois, perfumer.
What is your strongest olfactory memory?
My strongest olfactory memory is the smell of the wheat fields of my childhood, with my father showing me around in his white 205, the smell of mechanics and of cut wheat … fantastic.
Do you wear a D’Orsay fragrance?
Yes! But it is not out yet, I wear it everyday.
What does this fragrance mean to you?
Sensuality, an oriental scent, so warm and spicy, extremely sensual and erotic.
What is the craziest declaration that has been made to you?
A trip to Venice, accompanied by a marriage proposal that I did not honor.
What is the most unusual place you have ever been asked on a date?
A plane ticket slipped into my mailbox for a weekend in Formentera that I accepted.
What scent would you like to make into a fragrance?
The scent of my dreams.
Perfume & Seduction: Does this sound still relevant to you?
Nowadays this seduction is different. We can’t touch each other anymore, we can’t kiss anymore. So I would say it is more intimate, more “at home”.
Tell us about a moment in your life when you wished for time to stop and that it would last forever?
It is a childhood memory, from the Cirque de Gavarnie that I later introduced to my children in the Pyrenees. It’s a secluded, secret path and you come across a stream in a valley.
What is your favorite time of the day?
In the evening, near a roaring fire with a glass of wine.
What are your plans for the rest of the year?
They’re numerous. Professionally they are numerous, and for D’ORSAY… New products!
